The Year 13 Shakespeare plays offered at WHS in 2007 are the great tragedies King Lear and Hamlet.
13 Contemporary Text is for students who have gained between 8 and 15 credits in Level 2 English. Students aim either to gain at least 14 Level 3 credits in English and work towards NCEA Level 3, or to complete university literacy and NCEA Level 2.
This course is for students who have achieved a minimum of 16 credits in Level 1 English. It leads you on to Level 3 English, and enables you to achieve the literacy credits needed for study at all New Zealand universities.
12 Contemporary Text is for students who have gained 7-15 credits in Level 1 English. It lets you gain Level 2 standards, including all those needed for university literacy, as well as complete Level 1 standards you still need.
- Reading and listening and writing for exciting Unit Standards!
This NCEA Level 1 course covers a wide variety of topics including film, novel, short stories and poetry. Students learn more about both creative and formal writing. Practical aspects include presenting speeches and posters.
This course suits students for whom NCEA Level 1 is not yet appropriate. It develops practical skills in English. Students also study some literature in preparation for NCEA Level 1 English the following year. Students are offered the chance to meet literacy requirements for NCEA.
