This course is designed to develop students understanding of diversity, structure, function, and interrelationships of living organisms, and their interactions with the abiotic environment; genetics and evolution; interactions between humans and their environment, and how these are influenced by developments in biological knowledge and technology.
Biology at this level aims to develop skills in planning, carrying out and interpreting experiments. The ability to communicate ideas to others is encouraged. Attitudes such as curiosity, intuition, persistence, and co-operation are developed. The focus of the course is on the biology of mammals. Aspects of cell biology, evolution and ecology are also covered.
